Young South West Animators win £30,000 fund

by Dano on 28-Jul-10 11:24

A group of talented young animators in the South West have won a £30,000 grant from First Light.

Young+Animated are a group of animators, aged between 10 and 16, who met through the annual Animated Exeter festival. Having attended some of the festivals introductory workshops, their keen interest resulted in the development of a club in 2009.

During the Easter holidays the team held a brainstorming session, which hatched the idea for Memory Train - a series of workshops that will explore methods of recording various groups of peoples memories in animated form. This cracking idea has won a £30,000 studio grant from First Light.

The team have started work but Young+Animated are still looking for enthusiastic animators to join them. If you are interested, please contact Animated Exeter: susannahshaw@me.com or ring 01392 270253
