Do you yearn for the cinema of the 1950's? B movies, fag smoke clogging the projector beam, standing for the Queen at the end? No? Tough! It's back!
The Natural Theatre Company presents
A NIGHT AT THE BIJOU
Film and theatre are ingeniously and hilariously integrated in this fabulously entertaining production.
The internationally renowned Natural Theatre Company have brought the aged (and odd) staff of the Bijou Cinema out of retirement to shine their torches and tear your tickets one more time. Where better to enjoy the 'best' horror B movie of all time, (Ed Wood's THE BRIDE OF THE MONSTER [PG], starring Bela Lugosi) than the atmospheric Little Theatre Cinema?
The perfect setting for this revival of good old-fashioned movie-going. The Naturals bring the film to life in their own inimitable style with added help from smell-o-vision and wet-o-rama! So, if you can get past old Sprocket the commissionaire, you'll be shown to your seat by flirty usherette Honey Wagon (runner-up, "Miss Hot Dog", 1958). Once in your seat you can relax while Ernie Glissando runs his hands over his mighty organ and encourages you to sing along to his bouncing balls. Before the film begins there's just time to grab something cold and creamy from Gladys, the oldest usherette in the world.
Altogether a satisfyingly joyous evening of unbridled silliness - VENUE MAGAZINE ****
Martin Jennings-Wright, manager of the Little, said 'This is one of the most exciting ventures we've ever been involved in, and I'm delighted that the Naturals and the Little, two such long-lived fixtures of the Bath cultural scene are teaming up in this way. It's a great chance for all the family to experience a bit of living history as well as having a hoot of a night out to boot'.
