Short film funding

Between 2002-11, South West Screen invested Lottery funds from the UK Film Council to identify and nurture creative talent in the South West. We also ran ‘Digital Shorts’, the UK Film Council-backed scheme which encouraged new approaches to digital storytelling for any distribution platform from cinema screens to mobile phones.

From 1 October 2011, responsibility to distribute Lottery funds passed to the new agency Creative England.

In the video below, freelance screenwiter Tom Williams talks about the support he received from South West Screen since moving to the region, including funding for his short film East Cliff West Bay which was produced through a PVA MediaLab scheme supported through South West Screen.

In 2007, K received funding from South West Screen through Digital Shorts Plus to make Detour. K talks about how Digital Shorts Plus helped him progress his career as a director and learn more about the development of a good story.
