Creative Industries iNet

Are you working in the creative industries in the South West? Do you have an innovative idea for a project that will help our sector thrive? If the answer’s yes, the Creative Industries iNet could help you make it happen.

The Creative Industries iNet (Networking for Innovation) is a £3.2 million programme of support that will run until 2013, to help the sector thrive and boost the South West’s growing reputation as a global creative hotspot. Working with both emerging and established innovative firms, the iNet will develop bold products and business models, explore new opportunities and ideas, and provide those vital connections to bring together a community of local, national and global innovators.

From advertising to fashion, or television to digital design, the creative industries umbrella encompasses a wide range of growing industries. These vital, knowledge-based businesses help drive our country forwards, contributing £60 billion – or 6.2% – to the economy every year.

In the South West, this diverse sector employs almost 40,000 people in 9,000 businesses. But spread across a large geographical area and often operating on a small scale, many creative companies find it hard to access the cutting edge knowledge that helps them to grow, innovate and compete on the global stage.

That’s why we’ve developed the Creative Industries iNet – to strengthen the sector and advance the South West’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence. The scheme will work with over 300 businesses to support projects which catalyse innovation, share knowledge and connect and export

The Creative Industries iNet is led by South West Screen - part of the government's Solutions for Business portfolio and funded by the European Regional Development Fund and South West RDA.

It is being delivered by a consortium comprising local partners including Arts Council England (South West), Arts Matrix, Bristol Media, Bournemouth Skillset Media Academy, Creative Bath, Creative Dorset, Gloucestershire Media Group, iShed, Plymouth Media Partnership, South West Design Forum, South West Music Forum, Swindon Media Group and Wessex Media Group.

To find out more, visit the Creative Industries iNet website at www.inets-sw.co.uk/creative, where businesses can find full details of the scheme, delivery partners and how to get involved.

Members of the creative sector community can also connect with each other at the iNet’s microsite, www.creativeindustriesi.net, which offers a visual landscape of the South West’s creative output.
