Our work with young people is less visible than some of our other activities, but it’s very important to us. Young people are the future of the creative media industries. That’s why we want to:
We work with young people in a range of ways, including through our Moving Image Education Hubs, investments under our Lottery programme and an alliance with Creative Partnerships in the South West. A key element in all our initiatives is that they are young-person led.
Mediabox is just one example of the recent projects we’ve been involved with that target young people. A government fund to help young people to create media projects and get their voices heard. It’s aimed particularly at disadvantaged 13-19 year olds and gives them the opportunity to develop and produce creative media projects, using print, television, film, radio or online platforms.
Mediabox for 2009/10 is currently closed for applications - click here for more information. Alternatively, Sas Bonser is the Mediabox Co-ordinator in the South West, based at South West Screen. If you would like further information then please get in touch.
Mediabox is delivered by a consortium led by First Light Movies and Media Trust in partnership with Skillset and the UK Film Council. For more information visit the Mediabox website.
