Welcome to South West Screen

South West Screen is the funding and support agency for the cultural and economic development of film, television and digital media in South West England. Funded by the UK Film Council and the South West of England Regional Development Agency, we exist to champion, promote and underpin the region's creative industries.

Through us, public funds are channelled into a wide range of creative initiatives, management and support services and outreach. In addition, we seek to influence and inform policy-makers, decision-takers and public opinion about the contribution, value and needs of film, television and digital media in our region.

Our work reaches across all areas of screen creativity and production - from meeting the needs of established professionals to nurturing fresh and emerging talent, students and communities who are new to engaging with the media.

We also maintain a crew and resources directory and a location-finder service.

About us

South West Screen takes the lead in five core areas:

• Informing and influencing opinion - to shape the national and regional decisions and policies which impact on screen-based media, and to raise awareness of the sector's importance to the cultural and economic life of the South West
• Awakening and nurturing creativity - by enabling existing screen practitioners and newcomers to expand their skills and horizons
• Giving grants - to build capacity, support talent, encourage best practice and innovation, and to develop new ideas
• Providing information, advice and assistance - both for those already engaged in the sector, and for those seeking more information about it
• Taking action to expand access and diversity - for instance, by enabling effective training, networking, skills and knowledge-sharing and through work alongside communities where there isn't a tradition of engagement with the media and/or with people who feel their voices are not heard
