South West Screen runs a number of successful projects that assist young people who are coming out of education to get into the media industries.
From March 2004, the South West Attachment Scheme assisted 5 people through an 18 month scheme of rotating work placements with Aardman Animations, Available Light, BBC Bristol, Big Squid, Bolex Brothers, Granada Media, Touch Productions and Twofour Productions. The aim of the scheme was to equip the trainees with the necessary skills to become successful freelancers. The 2006/07 South West Attachment Scheme is currently underway - click here to find out more.
In 2005/06 South West Screen has been supporting the South West Graduate Placement scheme, to provide 50 graduates with 12-week placements where they can gain 'real work' experience. The scheme, managed by the University of the West of England in partnership with Bath Spa University and Bournemouth Media School, was set up to help graduates get their first break in the region's production industry and has been a successful springboard for many newcomers to date.
