South West Screen is committed to ensuring that new entrants to the industry are fully prepared for the exciting, demanding and challenging career that the media industries offer.

This work takes the form of both placement activity, giving young people exposure to real businesses, and creative opportunity to provide production platforms to gain experience and get themselves noticed.

Our placement schemes are comprehensive programmes designed to give trainees a thorough understanding of what it's like to work in the media industry. The schemes usually include a mixture of work experience, training, mentoring and specialist careers advice and guidance, to get new entrants started in the right career.

Creative opportunities give new entrants a chance to show their ideas and talent in a real world environment, whether short film production and exhibition or entrepreneurial company development. Again support comes through training, mentoring and guidance.
