South West Screen organises and participates in a range of training and development initiatives, designed to support both individual skills and personal project development.

These initiatives are in recognition that in the rapidly changing, and highly competitive, media landscape it is vital for professionals to continue to develop skills, experience and output.

Whilst our training interventions are highly focused on the tasks and issues facing media professionals, the creative development programmes look to push forward individuals in a wider sense through the support of projects and production.

South West Screen professional development projects include:

• individual training bursaries to help with the cost of updating skills
• subsidised rates for specific training courses and help with identifying appropriate training solutions
• signposting other organisations and services that can assist with professional development
• creative advice or mentoring on project development
• funding for innovative production and distribution projects
