In association with the Film Business Academy, CASS, and City University
South West Screen has launched a new Company Development Programme aimed at film producers and film and television companies in the South West region. The Programme consists of three 2-day courses aimed at developing and expanding key business and strategic skills for companies in the region. It will run from February 2008 to October 2008 (with specific dates to be confirmed after consultation with accepted participants).
The Programme's emphasis is on business planning, company development, low budget film-making models, and project management. Each participant will have to deliver a Business Plan four weeks after the final two-day session, outlining their objectives over the next year, and how they intend to achieve them. Between each training programme, specific business development work will be undertaken that will form part of the final Plan.
On the basis of each participant's respective development, their Business Plan and a verbal review with the lead course tutor, they have the opportunity of being selected for the Second Year of the South West Screen Cohort Scheme. Two companies will have the opportunity to be put forward for the Film London Production Finance Market (October 2008), a specialised forum for feature film financing that attracts top global film financiers.
