We also work with BAFTA on a programme of screenings and events in the South West of England as part of BAFTA in the Regions.

Virtual Voices

Web and Data Security
18 July 2008 - 2pm at Stonehouse Lecture Theatre, University of Plymouth
PM-P members have the chance to find more on web and data security issues at this seminar examining the risks of doing business on the web and the responsibilities of web designers and developers in protecting client's resources and data. The seminar will look at the security vulnerabilities that exist in the delivery of online services, and the ways in which attackers exploit them. Bristol Media Five-a-side Football
27 July 2008 - 2pm at Clifton College Sports Ground
Bristol Media are holding their own Five-a-Side Football Tournament of 2008 and they're looking for 32 teams of seven players each to compete. The entry fee this year is £75 which includes refreshment for everyone in your team. If you would like to enter a team please email Caroline as soon as possible.
Tecchie Laptop Sessions: Social Networking
30 July 2008 - 7.30pm to 9pm at The Beehive Pub, Cheltenham
These GMG sessions will be quarterly and are aimed at the tecchie bods amongst us. Come along for a small gathering to discuss and share knowledge and peer to peer learning ideas in a safe setting. The session will kick off with the discussion tonight focusing on social networking exploring the vast array of networks on offer and how it can benefit our own media businesses and indeed our clients. Knowle West's Amazing Archive Exhibition
25 June - 5 July 2008 at Knowle West Media Centre, Bristol
'Back in The Day' - Knowle West's Amazing Archive Exhibition is an exciting young person led exhibition which includes photography, illustration, sound and animation. Over the past 9 months a group of young people from Knowle West have met weekly engaging with the local community, understanding their roots, uncovering oral histories, artifacts, stories and photos. The exhibition sets out to challenge negative and complacent views of Knowle West by giving its heritage new depth and meaning. 'Back in The Day' brings together an exhibition that aims to address common misconceptions of the area. Admission is free. For more information contact Nicky Williams or Katie Taylor. Animation Unlimited 2008
18 - 20 July 2008, Bournemouth
This summer the Arts Institute at Bournemouth is proud to host the 20th Anniversary Society for Animation Studies International Conference: 'ANIMATION UNLIMITED'. Pre-eminent scholars and practitioners from some of the world's leading institutes of animation education will converge in Bournemouth to discuss, debate and drive the industry forward. Bagpuss and Friends
27 July 2008 - 3.30pm at Watershed in Bristol
Following the success of last years' Trumptonshire Tales, Encounters Festival is delighted to welcome Phill Jupitus back to Watershed to host a special event celebrating excellence in animation. Phill is a huge fan of Oliver Postgate's extraordinary cannon of now classic stop-motion animation. He will choose his favourite moments from timeless Smallfilms classics such as Ivor the Engine, Noggin the Nog, Pogles Wood, the Clangers and of course Bagpuss. Phill will be joined onstage by award winning stop-motion animator Barry Purves, and Small Films archivist and publisher, Loaf. Tickets will be available from the end of June from Watershed 0117 927 5100 priced £8/£6 concessions.

Crossing the Void: bringing TV and digital companies together to create multi platform content - 29 January 2008
A one day conference which will answer the question what is a multi-platform programme and what are the mix of skills needed to create that content, with insight from commissioners and broadcasters, alongside first hand experience and case studies from producers. This event will also incorporate a showcase of projects from the Convergence Alliance scheme.
